| This shed is on my property in Rocky Ford and came
with this story:
"Elijah S. Bell - House. Mr. Bell was main stock-holder of First
National Bank of Trinidad. He financed almost all the Basque French
sheep-men of the south country. This house set on 2 lots in Timpas ,
Colorado. It was purchased in 1940's by Pearl and Bertha De Frese who
owned the 10 acres east of the cemetery. They had the Bell House moved to
Rocky Ford to be used for a horse-barn. This project was never completed.
"
"Mr. Bell always rode the passenger trains from Trinidad to Timpas,
staying in Timpas sometimes a week transacting business with sheep-men.
Mr. Bell also had a storage wool warehouse in Timpas that burned in 1926
with Timpas Mercantile, lumber sheds, burning half block. This was the
largest fire of Timpas history." |
